« on: Wednesday 07 July 04 21:53 BST (UK) »
Hi,
i'm looking for "Glover" of New Ferry,Wirral.
my grandad was born about 1900--1901, he was Edward Glover,i think his fathers name was George, can't be certain, grandad married Florence Louise Churchill, probably 1920s as my dad was born 1925. Any info on any Glovers in the area would be appreciated, many thanks to anyone who can help.

Hi Chris

When you are certain of the names and ages and where they were born and married I can look back for you on the censuses, but only from 1901
Try this site it is very good for Cheshire BMD lookups and you can purchase the certificates from it. Get back to us if you have any more info.

Hi Chris
If your grandfather was born on the date you suggest then this is the only possibility for him as detailed in the 1901 census, you should endeavor to find a birth or marriage certificate of course to verify his fathers name.

Isaac C Glover 36  Liverpool, Lancashire, England Head brewer employer  Great Crosby  Lancashire
Adeline Glover 33  Bolton, Lancashire, England Wife  Great Crosby  Lancashire
James Glover 9  Great Crosby, Lancashire, England Son  Great Crosby  Lancashire
William Glover 8  Great Crosby, Lancashire, England Son  Great Crosby  Lancashire
Dorothy M Glover 6  Great Crosby, Lancashire, England Daughter  Great Crosby  Lancashire
Kathleen V Glover 3  Great Crosby, Lancashire, England Daughter  Great Crosby  Lancashire
Edward Glover 3 months  Great Crosby, Lancashire, England Son  Great Crosby  Lancashire
Annie Callwood 55  Great Crosby, Lancashire, England Servant cook  Great Crosby  Lancashire
Mabel Jackson 8  Bolton, Lancashire, England Visitor  Great Crosby  Lancashire
Maggie Young 23  Northwich, Cheshire, England Servant housemaid  Great Crosby  Lancashire
Jermima A Anderson 23  Liverpool, Lancashire, England Servant nurse  Great Crosby  Lancashire

Great Crosby
Blundell Sands St Nicholas

RG13/3445 folio 132
West Derby Lancashire

Once the fathers name has been verified it should not be to difficult to trace the families back through the various census years.

please get back to us

Hi Chris
There is something amiss with your information.
Can you tell me where you have obtained it from please ?
Is it from BMD certificates or from a family member, where did the address of Beaconsfield Road come from and when did they live there.
How did you find out that your ggrandfather was a master on a barge ?
Have you verified all the names as being their registered birth names.

Hi Peter,
i got my info from my auntie,[grandads daughter]she confirmed his name for me but she does'nt know his wifes name, she said george was a master on a barge and that they lived in Beaconsfield Rd New Ferry but she did'nt say what year, she and my dad used to visit them there they were born 1925 & 1928, so i presume it was around about then.

Hi Chris
The problem I have in making a start is finding a birth for Edward Glover 1900/1901 in New Ferry or in Birkenhead.
Either he wasn't registered Edward or his birth name was not Glover, this is why its important for you to see certificates.
Have you seen a birth certificate for your father, from what you say I am assuming his name is Glover and his mothers maiden name was Churchill ? and yet when searching the GRO index for 1924/5/6 there are no male Glovers born to a mother named Churchill nor are there any females ( your aunt) in 1828.  ???
