Hi Simone

I'm researching for my aunt.  We have a Mary Anne EATWELL born Calne, Wilts in about 1832.  She married Henry SALTER Sep 1852.

In various census returns she has relatives (?) boarding with her: Fanny EATWELL born about 1814 in Monkton and Elizabeth EATWELL born 1795 in Tytherton (?) Wilts.

In 1871 Fanny is married to William EATWELL who was born in Calne c 1825.

Would be interested to know if any of these sound familiar to you.

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Hi
Sorry for the delay.

Well the names Mary Anne, Fanny and William are familiar to my Eatwell tree, but I haven't found any of mine in the Calne area yet.

My current research has led me back to a William and Martha Eatwell in Wroughton in the mid to late 1700s.  One of their sons, Adam, married in Ramsbury Wilts and my direct line continues on down from him in that area.    However, any of his siblings could well have stayed in Wroughton, or travelled in the opposite direction towards Calne, I suppose it is possible.  You never know with ancestors!!  ::)

Regards
Simone.

Hello, I was wondering if I might have a password for your website? I have Goddards in my tree, and was wondering if there were any cross-overs.

Regards

Katherine

Hi all,   :)
Haven't been in for a little while (real life taking over!), so thought I would repost my surname interests for all those new members.
Regards,
Simone.

Hello

I have this family on my tree.  Not quite as you have it but very similar. I think we can help one another. I can certainly introduce you to other Gunter researchers.
Thomas was born in Bradfield Workhouse but his mother came from Aldermaston, as did his grandparents and great grandparents.
Aldermaston is in the Bradfield Reg District but is a totally different parish.
Perhaps you would send me a private message.

Hello,

My message that you seem to be replying to is dated 8th Aug 08 and the thread started off as nothing to do with the Gunters. Since then we and other people have cross corresponded on another Rootschat thread and privately about these Gunters.
The latest reply to this thread is nothing to do with me. The quote comes from 5th March 05 (see above) but there is no message with it.

To clarify Gunters, There wasn't a PROVEN connection between the Aldermaston Gunters and the Enborne ones - not in the time period that you were looking at. However, as I think I said in our correspondence,
Thomas Gunter 1841 Newbury who married Ann Sandford of Enborne and had children in Enborne was shown in the 1851 census as  the son of Richard Gunter 1813-1886 and Emma Aldridge 1811-1851.
Richard was born in Speen, and since the time that we corresponded I have been told by another researcher (but haven't seen the PRs) that Richard was christened at Speen, son of Richard 1776 Aldermaston-1830 Speen and Elizabeth Hughes b abt 1775. Elizabeth was also buried in Speen in 1838 and everything fits, so I am happy, until I can get to see the PRs as final proof.

If you need any more information that you cannot get yourself, perhaps a new Gunter thread  might be best, as this thread is getting extremely muddled - and muddied.

Yours
Vicwinann
