Veronica Jones
« on: Sunday 22 April 07 17:41 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I am looking for any information on my late mother Veronica Jones. Her father was David Raymond Jones a Wines and Spirit Merchant. She was born in Dec 1910 or 1911.
She may be the Veronica born in St ASpath, but I have no proof as yet . Any help would be welcomed.

Hello Graham,

I have just started helping a friend research her mother's family, and wonder if it may be the same line as your Veronica's?  My friend's mother (born 1907) had a sister called Veronica (nee JONES), born St Asaph in 1910.  Name of father on birth certificate of my friend's mother = David Raymond JONES, mother = Maggie JONES.  The family were living in Denbigh in 1907, but my friend remembers her mother saying that they grew up in Liverpool.  There are likely other siblings to Veronica and my friend's  mother.

Does this information sound compatible with what you know of Veronica's family?  Please reply if you think it is a match, and we can compare notes further.

Kind regards,
Rebecca

Hello Rebecca,
This looks as though we are talking about the same family, at least i hope so.
My mother Veronica raymond (Jones) was born 5th Dec 1910. she kept her family life a secret but did say she came from a large family and grew up in Liverpool. She made us think she was an orphan.
My father was from Exmouth in Devon (John William Marston) how she met him we dont know, they were married in Exmouth Sept 1934. and had my brother in 1935 and me in 1936 both in Devon, we moved to Coventry in 1938.My father died in 1974 and my mother died in Coventry Oct 2003.
On her marriage certificate her father was David Raymond Jones a wines and spirits retailer.
The only Veronica Jones I have found to match is the one born in St Asaph I am sure it  must be her.
Maybe I should obtain that certificate to check the fathers name.
I would like to hear if you have any more information.
You will  note I have changed my e-mail details and user name.
                                                     Regards Graham.

Hello again Graham,

Lovely to hear from you, and it does seem likely that you and my friend will turn out to be first cousins.  At the moment we still know very little about this Jones family, but would like to tell you what we do know, and hope between us we can peel back a few more layers in the family history, given time.
Please e mail me on my address as follows (exchanging the parts in parenthesis with the actual symbol - just would like to protect my address from skimmers, and save myself further headaches with spam).
Looking forward to hearing from you directly,
Rebecca
