Julian, that's really funny.

I got afew messages last week which were abrupt and quite rude I thought, saying "Well, give me more info" and such like.

Your post explains why lol...

Absolutely - and it puts you off, doesn't it.

Only thing I can suggest is raising this with Genes Reunited - suggesting they make the process clearer in the notification e-mails, or they have a FAQ on Hot Matches.

I have e-mailed Genes Reunited suggesting what I suggested above (if you see what I mean).

Because GR are working their way through the alphabet.  We're only up to surnames beginning with E.  So it's not you!

JULIAN

Thanks Julian, that explains alot...
Wish I never added the Surname Brown now    ::)

perhaps if you have relatively common surnames, you hit the limit on the number they send you?

If that was the case, I would of thought that once I 'discard matches' for A & B
then more would follow.     >:(

My Hot Matches have all come for 'L's, I didn't think it strange since two of my main names are Lunt and Larkins, but it does seem very quiet for Cains.

I'm not sure I would agree that they have any sort of logical process.

I'm not sure I would either, mine so far are all my Pilbeam and Winchester relatives and a Johnson and a Williams.

It should be connected to both the frequency of the name in your tree, in the database and the alphabetic order - pure guess work of course.

I only have A to G represented on 18 pages.
