Caz & Helen

See Caz! - you had to join.........but at least it is reasonable price and I must admit I have had a couple of good replies to my family history people.....except that person on my mother's side of the family.

But do you know - I have no idea who he is or where he came into the family - which is a bit of a pain.  But he has certainly got me thinking!!

Regards

I wonder if anyone else has a disproportinate number of contacts on one side of the family.

On my mother's side there is only one direct contact (who I found through another means)

There are anumber of other contacts through marriage - especially the Aldouses.

On my father's side I have quite a number of contact mostly made through GR, in Australia and NZ as well as UK.

(I also have one American contact, but this was found by Googling!)

I have made 5 definite contacts on my Father's side of the tree, 2 possibles and 1 definite on Mum's side.  Worth my £7.50 membership, I think :D

Despite the length of time I've being doing my 'tree' it was only last Monday that I actually put my tree on GR, though I haven't paid up yet.

Now I've received an email from someone on GR who appears to searching for my uncle and grandfather, has anyone any tips/advice about replying before I actually do.

??? Did I say somewhere that I was a 'billy no mates' with regard to hot matches?

I'd only ever had one notification before - got one through just now, guess what? I've got 12 pages of names to wade through - see ya sometime, I'll have to check them all just in case

Hi Bee - I would say 'proceed with caution'  :) don't give away too much too soon, find out how much they know already and how they think they are connected to your relatives.

You will get many and several answers to your question I'm sure, but who knows, you may just have found an unknown cousin :)

Thanks Suey,

I've just replied with some brief info, so it's now a case of wait and see,  I'm quite impatient now.

I agree with Suey - don't give too much away at first.  I did the exact opposite and gave heaps of information to a direct line relative and only received a couple of names from her maternal side - and only years - no dates at all.

But I noticed that she had updated her family information with info that I had sent!   I am more cautious now.
