Hot matches on Genes Reunited

Hi

Ever got the hot matches and replied post haste - only to find that it's like pulling teeth to get any information from these people on the "hot match people in your tree" - why bother to put your info if you are not willing to share. 

My mother's name was mentioned - and of course I replied - but couldn't get anywhere after three emails - so I gave up!

I totally agree with you, but i've also found it is'nt just "Hot Matches", when you trawl through on the new names been added, you can see some names that are in your tree, so you contact them and wait for them to reply, some do and can be very helpful....or not so helpful, or like you say...they cant be bothered to reply at all.
If somebody has'nt renewed their membership do their names that they've added to the site stay on site for a while, or do they get deleted.
I've often wondered if im sending a message to someone who no longer is a member.

Morning, i was'nt too sure if they might leave your names on the site for a certain amount of time just in case you renewed a little after your membership expired.

I didn't think they removed your names at all.

You have to being a paying member to contact others on the site, but you can have your details up without having to pay a penny - so they're unlikely to zap you

Although it's possible people change their email address and forget to change their contact details on gr  - in which case they won't know someone is trying to contact them.

Morning Helen, of course......i should have remembered, i can remember when i first came across Genes, i put all my names on the tree but because i was'nt a paid up member at the time i could'nt contact anyone.....thats why i joined...and glad that i did now.....found loads of cousins in Devon for my dad that he never knew existed.

I must be sending messages to all those people that are'nt paid up then.....LoL

- and I don't think you can view others trees if you're not a paying member so perhaps that's why others aren't so forthcoming.......
