Hi,I am almost sure that this is my grandmothers great grandparents. Her father was John Godward D.O.B 1875 and he was the son of Henry Godward and Theresa Jenkins but called Thriza by her Irish mother in law Annie.Jon Godward married Cornelia Butler and had eight children.John Edward 1894(born out of wedlock)Harold, Theresa,Cornelia,Annie,Sid,May and Ethel. There were several changes of address details of which I would be happy to give you.I seem to recall that one address was Needle Row which seems very apt as Cornelia was a lace maker at the time.John had various occupations including a railroad labourer and cobbler.Unfortunatly he was a very heavy drinker and my lovely gran carried both physical scars and horrific memories to her grave,as did her siblings. All of the boys died young and her mother died of malnutrition at only 42.The girls spent time in a catholic home where they were abused and beaten on a regular basis.Only May stayed in Nottingham,Connie(my gran)Theresa an Ethel lived in Doncaster. My nan, grandad and my father moved to Southampton as grandad accepted a posting here.I lived with my Gran from the age of 3yrs and my life was much richer because of her and all my lovely great aunts who sadly are no longer alive.Ethel emigrated to New Zealand with her son Ronnie his wife and 2 children and Mays went to Canada and Australia(I think was Mays but not sure).Im sure there are still relatives in Nottingham but I need to look in my Grans book as quite a few.
