Hi Keera,

Don't have either Cencus but I found this family in the BVRs. This William is 1 of 7 children born to the same couple (Surname spelt as Middlemis, Midlemist, Middlemist and Middlemass.

MIDLEMIST, William
Gender:   Male
Birth Date: 17 Mar 1784
Christening Date: 21 Mar 1784
Recorded in: Swinton, Berwickshire, Scotland
Father:   George MIDLEMIST
Mother:   Elspeth MIDDLEMIST
Source:   FHL Film 1067903   Dates:   1733 - 1819

If you want the rest of the children, just let me know.

Dear Anne, Thank you for the info. I have read that he was from Weetywalls, Fogo Berwick, so I don't think this was mine. Do you have an earlier census as he might still be in Blackford then. His wife Marjory might have been alive then too? I appreciate your help.
Thanks Keera

William Middlemiss lived at Blackford (the address was hard to read on the census) in 1851, In 1861 he lived at Gilmours House, Blackford where he lived with his daughter(?) Isabella King.  William died on 2nd February 1865 aged 89 years and 6 months.

Keera,

I see that your request was made quite some time ago so perhaps you have already been given more information about William MIDDLEMISS and family, or have found it out yourself by purchasing (viewing/downloading) certificates and census entries from (the pay-per-view) site ScotlandsPeople at:
http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

From the IGI (in the light of the information kindly provided by 'middlemiss'):
Isobel MIDDLMASS m James KING, 1 Jun 1834, Blackford Perthshire
They had - all in Blackford - Andrew (1835), Marjory (1837), William (1839), Eliza (1843), David (1845), John (1847), Janet (1849), and Charles (1851).
If they followed Scots naming patterns that might suggest that James's parents were Andrew & Eliza, and that Isobel's were William & Marjory (though of course it might not be the case).
There are a number of other MIDDLEMISS (however spelled) marriages and births in Blackford.

Perhaps you aren't aware that ScotlandsPeople is not a subscription site so, unlike the situation with England & Wales, in general kind RootsChatters can't just spend their time kindly looking up census information - they'd have to pay!  SP is a pay-per-view site - charges are reasonable and the information on Scottish certificates is excellent (statutory registration started in 1855).
