Sue, my sincere apologies. I did not see this reply to my message, someone else has just brought it to my attention!
So it looks like my theory re Edward and Catherine was wrong, I was never fully convinced about them as parents of George Hyde, more coincidence that they got married at about the right time. Were there any more Hyde children of William and Mary Hyde?
Where did you get the parish register fiche from, do you know if they have been transcribed anywhere? I have a copy of some Burials from Theydon Garnon, no 'suitable' record for Thomas, Susannah or William Hyde, possibility for Mary Hyde, buried 23 Nov 1851, aged 87, who is probably the following lady.
1851 census
Alms Houses, Abridge Road, Theydon Garnon
Ann Walter, wid, 80, b. Roydon
Mary Hide, wid, 86, b. North Weald
(Hannah x'd out) Sarah How, wid, 87, b. North Weald
Above three ladies apparently "Supported by the Parish"
HO107 1770 201 p43 & 44
Once again, I would have replied to your message before, but did not get the usual notification of a reply.
