Hi Millerina   :)

Thank you for taking the time to get intouch, it might be a possible source to try the witnesses, it is all I have to go on thanks.  ???

I did try the Army but they could not help I hired a researcher to visit Kew, her thoughts are that his record was lost when they bombed the records office.

I am going mad trying to find him, as he was my Mother's Father  and vital to start the tree  :'(

Thank you again.

There seem to be some Samuel's with father John but the ones I see are in Lancashire (I didn't check every entry though) - none of which a miller.

This is tough! Would we love to see the 1911 census!

What I'd do if he were mine is search a complete BMD index (I understand Family relatives has the births indexed from late 1860s through early 20th century), note every possible birth (+ subsequent death) and search for the boys in the census returns in the hope to eliminate one or the other.

I notice you talk about army records - was he in the army? If so, I suggest you put a post on the army board - they often come up with amazing things on there!

Is there anything you know about Samuel Percy's siblings?

It might be worth you splashing out on some credits on 1837online, to look through all the births registered for Leach for the appropiate years. With it being a common name this may not be practical, though. If you are within access of London, you can go and look at the index books yourself. This way you would compile a list of all Percy Samuel and Samuel Percy Leach's births registered at that time, and would then have the task of narrowing it down.

Was he definitely a miner, and his dad a miller? Or is it bad writing and they were both either millers or miners?

Do you know if he had any siblings - If they have unusual names they might help find the family in 1901

Did he leave a will? That might direct you to neices and nephews, and then back to brothers and sisters.

You say you had an address for 1901, but it was empty - what was your source for that address? Have you tried it for 1891, before he was born I know, but maybe his parents and older siblings if any were there.

Just a collection of rambling thoughts really, maybe to help you get a lead.
Dont give up, sometimes these mysteries go on for many years and then suddenly you get a lead from some unexpected source.

Thank you Lizdb & Tati :)

I have checked the marr cert again and quite sure the occupations are correct.

I do not know if he had any sibling etc  ???

The address I got from the marr cert & thought I would check on 1901 in case his family resided there before his marr in 1915.

Tomorrow I will go to the 1891 and check.

Thank you both for your kindness in trying to  help me.
