Has anyone got 1841 Cheshire please?
« on: Monday 10 October 05 13:00 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for William Warburton and wife Hannah, aged approx 50-60.

In 1851 William is a Farmer of 30 acres and living at what looks like RAP MILL in Hale.

Any help much appreciated

Hi Peter

Brilliant, thank you.  Certainly them as Wright is with the family in 1851.

Very nice of them to have a son with an unusual first name.  Makes the family a little more obvious when hunting for them!

Thanks

Hi Lou,

Are you sure the name of the mill in 1851 is not Ross Mill - which is now part of Hale Barns.

There was a Warburton Family who lived at Dairyhouse Farm - which is next to Ross Mill -  in the 1950's - my father always used to buy the Christmas Turkey from them!!

They are both on the south side of Hale towards Ashley.

I was born and worked in Hale for 60 years!

Cheers

Keith

Hi Keith

Very possibly, the 1851 image isn't the best quality and Rap Mill was my attempt at a guess.

I'm currently trying to prove whether this couple are the parents of my 5xgrandfather who helpfully died before the 1851 census and is in Lancs in 41 stated as born Out of County!

The aforementioned John Hollinworth, servant, of William Warburton was my gt, gt, Grandfather.  I work 5 minutes away from the location of the farm in Hale Barns.

Wow!  I'm still not sure whether these are my family or not....I'm trying all the obvious routes to try and prove a link but nothing concrete as yet

Hi Lou & Nick,

Not sure if you know of this site :
http://www.old-maps.co.uk/
As you might guess it has some great old maps!

Here is the area you are talking about - nice to see this area again - I use to play for Hale Barns Cricket Club (am still a member!)

Hilltop is now a very select area - and that is the next farm to Rossmill.

Ahh just realised you can't put photos on this part of the site - neer mind you can look for yourself if you want to!

Cheers

Keith
