The previous census she was in the wigan union workhouse with four of her children but what became of her after thet is anybodys guess. Her youngest daughter Louisa married my Great grandfather Joseph Barlow in prestwich.

You seem to be assuming that she died somewhere between 1891 and 1901, I'm unable to find a death on any of the online sites which are available free.

Before you go down any other route would you give full details of the 1891 census and her age and details given in the 1881 census so that we have birth dates and places and can help search the 1901 census, there are often mistranscriptions, but of course there's no certainty that we would find her if you haven't.

If there's no luck from the 1901 census and you feel that the only alternative is her death prior to then, you have two options, if you are near to a Record Office where you can search the BMD indexes then you can do this for free, alternatively www.1837online.com has the complete BMD indexes for you to search but it is a pay site, however, quite reasonably priced.

I'm sorry not to have any more definite information for you.

Mary

Hi,

This looks like it could be her in the 1901 census but the ages are slightly out from the 1881 and 1891 census.

19 Parker Street, Manchester

Catherine Gelston, H, W, 63, House Keeper, Ireland
Catherine Gelston, Daur, M, 23,. Fuet? Sorter, Wigan
Edward J, Grandson, 7, Manchester
George, Grandson, 2, Manchester
Elizabeth Denis, Boarder, W, 76, Ireland

BTW,  I was looking for the death of one of mine once only to discover she had remarried!

Regards,
Mo
