FARNES lookup
« on: Saturday 08 October 05 13:03 BST (UK) »
Hi

I'm trying to find information on the FARNES family in Buxted (Bucksted), East Sussex between 1710 and 1820.

In particular, I am trying to find the birthdate and the mother and father of a GEORGE FARNES born Buxted (between 1804 and 1818).

If anyone has any information on his marrage to SOPHIA JENNER, I'd be most grateful.  All I can find are two entries from the IGI which state 1839 and 23 Feb 1835.

I have all the British Census information from 1861.

Many thanks for your help.

Hi Patrick,

I am sorry but no luck with the VRI I'm afraid. No marriages in Buxsted and only two Christenings and they are in 1880. The VRI is published by the LDS and is not complete.
You could try the Sussex family history group, they may be able to help you.

Good Luck,

Frances :)

Hi Dan

Yes I am still looking.  Do you have anything?  Are you personally connected to the Buxted Farnes?

Many thanks

Pat

Yes, I am related to the buxted farnes's, there were loads of them, at one time.

I think there were at least two george farnes, my Great Great Grandfather was a george,

But I am not sure which one you are looking for it could be my Great Great Great grandfather.

do you have an email address, it's probably easier that way,

My parents know more about this than me,

Can I ask why you are searching for George Farnes.

Regards

Dan

Excellent,

My memory might be playing games with me but I think ada farnes is familiar?

Any way I will pass on your email address to my parents, and hopefully they can contact you with some info,
It might take a couple of days, they are not very tech savvy!!

Are you a composer?

Regards

Dan

Hi Dan

Yes, I think we might have chatted before or at least to your parents.

Ada's second oldest brother was a George Farnes.  Perhaps that is the connection.

Yep, am a composer ;)

Cheers

Hello,

If you are still looking for Farnes's in Buxted Sussex and surrounding areas, I have been tracing my family tree for about 2 years and have found loads of them, over 200, including the ones you mention. I believe George Farnes c.1808 parents were John Farnes 1779 and Eliza Bonnick c.1779. George had a brother Thomas b.1806 who I belive was my great, great, great, great grandad. I also have 2 Ada's, one born in 1919 daughter of David Farnes b.1888 d.1955 & his wife Sarah Daniels c.1885, the other Ada Louisa, born in 1886 who married Richard Farnes (Junior) born in 1878, her maiden name was Tourle. There are so many members of the Farnes family have the same Christian names so it is very important to check that you have the right George, Richard, John or whoever!!
My nan was a Farnes. I still live in Sussex, where are you?
Hope to hear from you soon.

Regards
Val.
