Hello to all,

Just thought I would pop in to say hi and see what you have all been up to.

Anyone remember Muriel Greenhalgh?  She was, I think, a telex operator.

Ken, you mentioned the person who started this and I have often wondered about Greyhound.  He (she?) asked the question and then disappeared.

Hello Greyhound, where are you?

I also wondered ( I have been doing a lot of his lately!) if anyone was on Forces Reunited and could give this site a plug?  It would be good to find some more Haydock veterans and hear their memories.

I keep meaning to go back to the first page and read through everything again.  Perhaps in November when I am due to retire - again!

I have no idea what I will do with myself all day after working most of my life.

Hope you are all well and enjoying life.

Lynn

Greetings.

I just stumbled across this site while doing a search for "RAF Haydock". I was stationed there, immediately on leaving Cosford in 1968 (prior to being posted to ELA in 1969). I used to work in the Comcen (TASS/TARE RBQP) and have fond memories of both the smell of the slag heap, steaming away on a winters morning, and the transport cafe across the other side of the East Lancs. (In fact, on a recent trip to the UK, I went off in search of that cafe, only to find it had disappeared - probably decades ago :-(.)

Just come across this site .  I was I/C the medical centre from June 1964 to March 1967.  Trawling through the site names mentioned bring back memories. My name is Dave Jones and the other members of staff were Margo, Paddy Doyle and willy Wilson.  Medico

Hello Medico; welcome.. Did you take over from Denis Wells?; sadly he is no longer with us; we lost him around 6/7 years ago.
I was in a pub in central London circa 1979, and bumped into Denis at the bar; not having seen him since he left Haydock. We were both at MOD at the time..continued to meet for a weekly beer for a year or so after that. His wife gave me the sad news of his passing.

What are your memories of those days 64-67?

Hi Vagabond

I did take over from Denis Wells although we never met again.  After I frinished my overseas posting to Cyprus 1967 to 1970 I was stationed at RAF Hospital Uxbridge with many happy times in London.  Sorry to hear about Denis.   I have only met two others who were at Haydock the same time as myself.  Ken Dodds briefly at RAF Upwood at a football match in 1973 and Alan who was in the general office at Haydock in 1970 can't remember his other name Medico
