Hi Lynn!
Found one photograph of me at Wildenrath  - and one of a bunch of us playing netball behind the WRAF Block at Haydock.  See if you can recognise anybody.

Lynn:
The one behind the WRAF block at Haydock was taken in '64 and the one at Wildenrath in '66.

How glamorous are you?  Stunner.

Looking at the recent photo you posted, you haven't changed much!!  Must be all that sea air!

Not sure I ever actually went into the WRAF block.  LOL.  I did stay, briefly,  in the Officers' Mess in 1966 though.  Talk about weird!

I don't recognise anybody in the netball crowd - can you name them all?  I played a lot of netball all through my ten years service but don't think I am in that picture.

Hi Lynn!

Thanks for the compliment but that picture's very old, remember. LOL!

I can't name all the people on the netball picture. The girl with the coat on is our WRAF Cpl, the girl who is facing the camera was Jan O'Dell, my friend and I'm next to her on the left but you can hardly see me. The dark haired girl shown in profile was Carolyn something or other, roomed next to Jan and I - and the older lady was our WRAF Flt Sgt PTI. She was a riot. Looking at the picture, you can tell how windy it was that day and I never did like the cold but  Jan, being sports mad had dragged as many of us out to practise with her as she could because she was going to Signals Command netball tryouts with Flt.  As it happens, I went with them too - and both Jan and I made the team. Happy memories.

Hi Frank,

I am so sorry to hear about the fire and so pleased that I was able to post the photos of you.

I do have some more photos which I will post but I don't want to dominate the site!!  Not sure if they are any use to Greyhound but the press cuttings may be if I can get them to scan well.

Can you name any of the others in the photos?  Jacqui (Sunshine Girl) thinks the officer is Sqn Ldr Pollock and the girl on the end is Roisin Mullen.

I remember the guard commander duties at Haydock.  They were all to do with threatened IRA attacks on the signals unit.  We (in accounts) were working late one evening when the guard commander came in looking for tea (might have been you Frank).

Haydock was a favourite posting for the Irish lads doing national Service and the guard commander had just taken roll call.  Most of the names were Irish and the he commented glumly that he had no idea which side they would be on if there was a raid!  LOL.

Hi Frank,

I am delighted to hear that you are still in touch with Ken Dodds.

Did you tell him about this site?  It would be lovely if he said hello to all his friends here.  I will post another photo of him.

From the right:

Kathleen Lenahan, Ken Dodds, Brian Williams, me in blue lace (can't believe I ever wore blue lace!) Brian's wife, I think.  Now, isn't that the curly head lad from accounts?  Anyone recognise the girl in the flowered dress?

Frank, please remember me to Ken and ask him to say hi to us all.

There was another accounts corporal, Geoff Balding.  Anyone remember him?

Hi Lynn!
The chap standing to your right WAS from Accounting. I can't remember his name but he was there when I arrived.  I believe he was Irish.
