Hi Lynn!

No, still too early, I'm afraid. I didn't get there till February '64. Nice picture of you and Ken though.  Did you know he also went to OTC after Haydock?

hi astral funny you told of the urns unit early on in my raf time i was a photograper and at cme london kilvin house w.1. and mr mc indoe the plastic surg did all his clinics there and i had to do before and after shots on the air crew lads what an awfull mess them chaps where in ill never forget it from there i went to burtonwood lancs on mass radiography duties nice to talk to you regards frank migy

Yes - she mentioned MrMcIndoe - I had forgotten the name and was trying to remember what she had said. Those airmen would have been the ones that she and other WAAf girls visited - the memory stuck with her, as it would, I suppose.

Lynn, I just took a second look at the picture.  Isn't that Sqn Ldr Pollock? (The CO with the stutter!)

Hi Jacqui,

Can't remember!!  Could be.  Here is another photo with him 'face on' which might help you to get a better look.

It is Frank in the pictures isn't it?

I had no idea that Ken Dodds went on to OCT.  That is terrific. I never came across him again.  Wonder where he was in Singapore?  I was at Seleter, husband at Tengah.  We left late in 1969 so we must have missed each other.

I was trying to recall what I remembered about you . . .

Wasn't it your ambition to have a Longines watch?  Did you ever get one?

I do remember Janet O'Dell and am sorry to hear that she died quite recently.  You must miss her.

I will keep dredging up old memories and will post some more photos.  If they are cluttering up the site, I am sure a moderator can remove them when others have had a chance to see them.

I have some press cuttings but would have to do them in pieces and Greyhound would have to do a sellotape job if they are of interest to him.  I am having to resize the photos because of the size restriction.

Regards,

Lynn

Hi Lynn!
Did I want a Longines watch?  Not that I remember but that doesn't mean I didn't say it. I just don't remember saying it and no, I never did get one.  <grin>
Yes, from what scuttlebutt I heard, Ken had been an officer in the past . I don't know what happened that he was sent down to the ranks but he was a darned good man and did go back to OTC in the end.  I don't know where in Singapore he was but if he was only just back in 71, then he probably was posted out there as you were leaving, right?
Loved the last picture you sent. Recognised Ken, you, Sqn Ldr Pollock, Cpl Jill Witt (?), the little Cpl (though I can't remember his name or where he worked) - and lordy, lordy, isn't that the infamous Roisin Mullen from General Office on the end? LOL! Who is the Cpl next to her? I seem to recall her face but not her name. Was she the other WRAF Admin Cpl?  Which one is Frank Migy?

We will get there with the names!

Frank is, I believe, the Cpl in the centre of the picture. He worked in the SWO's Office.  I remember him well.  I keep hoping that he will log on and recognise himself!!

Come on Frank!  LOL.

I think you are right about the girl on the end being Rosin and the Cpl in the middle being Jill Witt.  Wish I had put names on the back of the photo!!  Do you mean the SACW next to Roisin who looks as though she is wearing Frank's stripes?  Can't remember her name.

I think Ken had tried for a commission before I met him but was unsuccessful.  Had there been any scandal, he would never have been accepted again.  As he was, the rumour must have been just that!  Good for him that he tried again and was successful.  He was always charming to me and there was never any sign of resentment when he knew I was going off to OCT.  I agree with you, a good man and hope he did well.

Hi Lynn!

Yes, who is the SACW next to Roisin? I think I know her face but can't remember her name. Also the little Cpl in front, I know that face but not the name - and Frank, hurry up and let us know which one, if any, on the picture is you! LOL!

You may be right about Ken's trying to get into OTC before.  Scuttlebutt is often wrong, isn't it? We both thought he was a really decent chap and somehow the idea of his doing anything that might have caused him to be sent down never did sit right with me. I'm glad he made it on the second try, too. <grin>  From what I heard, he was the officer I/C accounting in Wildenrath after I left. Would have loved to have been there to surprise him on his first day. LOL!  Do you remember Andy Richards, Ken's best friend at Haydock?

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures handy of me at Haydock but think I can find one somewhere of me at Wildenrath for you. Always helps to see a face to be sure you remember someone, doesn't it?

Where are you living now, Lynn and how many children do you have?

Jacqui

Hi Jacqui,

Yes, please post a photo of you at Wildenwrath.  I am enjoying this wander down memory lane!  I am on leave at the moment,  Usually I am overloaded with work.

I now live alone in Surrey (widow) and my only 'child' is Julie who found this site.  She won't like the child bit!!  LOL.  She has one child too and lives in the same village with her husband and little girl. It is lovely having them so close.

How about you?

Lynn

Hi Lynn!

I will find that picture and get it scanned and on the site ASAP - or should I say WEF EPD? LOL!

I'm so sorry to hear your husband has passed away but awfully glad your daughter and her family live close by. <smile> do you live in the suburbs or in an urban area? You mentioned work.  What do you do?

As for this end, Rick and I retired from Ohio to Sarasota, Florida  and have 2 children. Ian is now 42 and lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with his wife and two daughters, 12 and 10 - and Alexis is 37 and lives in Dallas, Texas with her husband and small son. We don't get to see our family too often, as you can imagine, but enjoy ourselves limmensely when we do. Besides which, having a house near beaches acts as a magnet for them at least once a year. LOL!

OK, off to find that picture now.
Jacqui
