publicist, was born at Dijon. He gained the title of Duc de Bassano. 
He held the office of Minister of Napoleon I

The photographer Alexander/Alessandro Bassano b.1829, son of Clement Bassano b.1798, fishmonger, and Elizabeth Barnes (1800-1893) I am sure, was part of the greater Italian Bassano family - but as I say, I have a few links to iron out yet.
