Was wandering around an old churchyard, you know, browsing, as you do. It was fairly unkempt, grass needed a cut, bit of rubbish blowing about but bearable. Suddenly, tucked away below a tree and almost hidden  by other larger stones, was a tiny, little box shaped, shiny granite gravestone. It was simple, it's words unremarkable, but it was to a small child, just months old. The striking thing was it was around 150 years old but looked like it was laid yesterday. It must have been looked after all that time as it was so spotless. Someone still loves the little fella.   ;D

Was it common in the past to put the persons job on the grave stone   ???
ie , i have found a few of late with,

                           Plumber of this city ,
                           Builder of    "     "
                           Butcher of westgate .
                        Was this quite common ?

Here's an inscription from St David's Church, Newtown, Powys (both men are my GGG Uncles):-

"In memory of Robert, son of Reuben & Martha Trow, Late of Llandinam parish who died March 15th 1893 aged 39 years.

This fatal stroke it was so strong, It took me off while I was young, But God himself he knew for why, That in my youth I was to die.

Also of John their son who died April 2nd 1893 aged 27 years

'Tis not for age that here I lie, Friends prepare yourselves to die, Repent in time make no delay, I in my youth was called away."

John died in the Shrewsbury County Asylum, Shropshire - I have often wondered what exactly was wrong with him.
