I am interested in any and all McLures (any spelling) on Skye, and in particulaer, the Sleat area.  I have a large database of families, and tons of birth and marriage certificates for McLure's and collateral families in Sleat.

My main line is the descendants of Farquhar McLure and Christina McPherson, both born abt. 1747.
Their Son - Malcolm McLure married Ann Beaton or Bethune in 1801.

If your people are from Sleat, I just might have something on them in my pile of certificates.

Fingers crossed that we can make some connections

Hi Debbie,
I am amazed by how many people you have helped and I suspect you may be able to help me, I am a descendant of Neil MacGillivray and Janet Nicolson.  I really need to get access to some family books but am having lots of trouble finding them.  Happy to pay for any books you know of and can get access to, also happy to share info on my branches with any people who are interested.  Thank you for all the sharing you have already done.
Mary

Hi Debbie,
My g-g-grandmother was Mary McLure and she married my g-g-grandfather, Donald McLure in Drumfearn on Januay 22, 1824.  My g-grandmother, Cathrine was born on January 18, 1828 and baptised on March 4, 1828.  The town is listed as (I think) Ord.  The whole family migratd to Canada and Cathrine married Laughlin McLean in Ontario on January 1, 1867.  I have the records from then on, but wish I had more on the Sleat history.  I visited Drumfearn, Camus Cros (where either Mar's parents or Donald's parents lived and the young couple moved there right after the wedding.  They then built a black house on Lot 8 Totscore.  I have pictures of the ruins.  Let me know if you have any of these folks in your files.  Thanks!

I don't know if you remember me Debbie.  You helped me a while back with the McLures.  Now I am headed for Scotland and would love to put my feet on the sod where my great grandfather walked.  He was Neil McLure born in Broadford January 1855.  I will send more info if someone can help me.

Hi Jeannie, of course I remember  :)  I owe you an apology!  i have just seen your post from Last September.  I will send you a private message.

Hello!!  I am so sorry that I have not replied before this.  Yes, I have a ton of info on you family, but like you, it's all from after Donald married Mary.  I have been in contact with cousins of yours who are also doing research. Many years ago!

In the 1841 census, Donald and Mary are living at
1841 Census Totscore,Kilmuir,Skye
Donald  McLure  40
Mary      "     35
Alexr.    "     14
Catherine "     13
Peggy     "     12
Ewan      "     9
Merion    "     1

Do you know who Donald's or Mary's parents were?  I have not found either of their christenings to andswer that question.  I would LOVE to see the photos you have of the ruins of their old house.

All the best Debbie in BC
ps - I will private message you with my main email address.
