Hiya Docherty!

Welcome to Rootschat, and welcome to our little Duntocher family discussion thread!

I have a few Docherty's in my file -

Richard Docherty and Annie MacDonald (nothing much on them)
their Son - Archibald Docherty married my great Aunt Flora Stewart, Oct 30, 1925 at St. marys.
Archie died, and Flora emigrated to new Zealand with her children -
Annie, Catherine, Florence, Pat, Vera, William and Maureen.

I also have a family of Doherty's in the Duntocher area -
Philip Doherty married Margaret Coyle , Jan 2 1899 at St. mary's.  They had a wack load of kids, and lived in the Clydebank area in later years.

any connect??

Hello, Debbie. I am in New Zealand.
Anne Docherty (Archie and Flora's daughter) is my paternal grandmother.
She married James Andrew from Maybole and had 4 children - 2 daughters and 2 sons.
Sadly, she passed in 2010 and I miss her dearly.

Hello! Sorry for the delay, I just was notified that you had posted a message here.
Nice to meet you cousin.   :)

I didn't know that Annie passed away in 2010. I am very sorry for your loss.  Annie was much loved in the family. My Mother always had fond memories of her in Duntocher. My mum was only 2 years older, and they played together at Granny Stewarts home in the Jenny House.

I have a very large and extensive family tree that you may have already consulted on ancestry.  And wherever possible, I have uploaded records and pictures for the family.
I would love it if you could fill in the extra details of Annie's family for me, I only have one daughter noted in my research.  Who is also on my DNA match list. :)

If you prefer to move to private messaging, that would be fine. That way we are not discussing possible living family in a public setting.
Cheers, Debbie

Hi there,
I have some Gill family from Duntocher, they are Daniel Gill born about 1845 who first married Annie Cairney and then married Catherine Docherty in 1875.  Daniel and Catherine had sons,William born 1874 and died young,  Thomas born 1876 who married Isabella,
and John born 1878.    Is this the same Gill family as yours ?

Hi again,
That's good to know that it's the same family.  Are you related to the Gills ? My link with them is through Catherine.
Do you know what happened to John or where in Ireland Daniel was born ?

Thanks, Julie

Hi
My research was for a friend….
His line is through Daniel’s brother Phillip. My understanding is that there’s still relatives still living in Duntocher.
I have other information that I am happy to share.
