Helen et al,

I've now managed to find Mary Gallacher on the death register (Nov 1921). The death was registered in Greenock (44 Union Street) although her usual address was given as New Street Duntocher.

Anyway problem solved - for the moment.

Thanks for your help.

Gerry

Hi Gerry,

We share the same GG grandparents! Thanks for uploading Mary Gallachers death certificate, I had been unable to find that too. Think, on reading through this site that I may also share ancestors with a few others on this forum!

This forum does not seem to still be very active, but I am hoping to find out some information. I have just started researching my family for my grandfather. He and my grandmother have moved into an assisted living facility recently, and I am hoping to brighten their day with some information about the family. I used the free trial of ancestry to find some information, but ran into a wall and not sure how to find out additional information. I have traced my grandfather's family to Dunbartonshire with mentions of Duntocher and Filshies Land? The information I have:
Elizabeth Smith (married name), I do not have her husband's name, I know they have a daughter Catherine Smith who married a Patrick Joseph Andrews (born Antrim, Ireland) in 1920 in Dunbartonshire. They gave birth to a daughter Elizabeth Andrews in 1921 in Dunbartonshire, and in 1922 immigrated to the United States. On the passenger ship list Elizabeth Smith is listed as mother of Catherine Smith still living in Duntocher, Filshies Land (that is what is written on the passenger list). They later had my grandfather in Brooklyn, NY. I would love if anyone had any information that might kick start my search further. Not knowing Elizabeth Smith's husband's name or maiden name seems to have me stuck.

Thank you so much for the information! I wanted to get as much information as I could, as my grandfather loves telling stories, but gets frustrated with names. For some reason it says that I am unable to send messages?

Hi Jackie755,

You need to make 3 posts in total on the forum, to be able to send Personal Messages (PM). So only one post then you can use PM.
