Duntocher families

Hello All,
I'm a newcomer so I hope that I am sending this to the right forum!
My father was born in Duntocher (1901) in Davies Square. I know that the Square no longer exists but wondered whether any members had an old photo of Duntocher which might give an indication of what it was like in that area?
Secondly, although his name was Smith (they get *everywhere*!), his mother's maiden name was McColgan. Are any Members researching this name?

Davis Square is still there, do you have any more information.
There are lots of Smiths,and McColgans in and around the old village.

Thanks for responding. I knew that the Davies Square sign was still on the wall but, had been informed that the actual place no longer existed.
As to details, here are some which might be a help.

Ellen (sometimes Helen) McColgan married Hugh Smith December 1885. Both addresses are given simply as Davies Square. Her father was James McColgan and her mother (already deceased) was Mary Ann McColgan nee Nealis - sometimes McNellis. Ellen died (still living in Davies Square) 1905.
I cannot find Ellen's Birth Record or any other McColgan record.

I haven't got any credits left at the moment, so I'm afraid I can't help you out, but a basic search on Scotlandspeople shows a birth for Ellen McColgan, 1862, Old Kilpatrick.  Perhaps you could invest in a few credits and have a look at the cert ?

Ahh ... ignore that last post Pipeyson, I've just found the Ellen McColgan born 1862, and she was the daughter of James McColgan & Cecilia Docherty.         Sorry about that,

I'm grateful to you for making such an effort. Yes, I had found "that" Ellen and thought that I had struck lucky. If memory serves, she also married a Hugh Smith in Old Kilpatrick!
