Hiya Docherty!

Welcome to Rootschat, and welcome to our little Duntocher family discussion thread!

I have a few Docherty's in my file -

Richard Docherty and Annie MacDonald (nothing much on them)
their Son - Archibald Docherty married my great Aunt Flora Stewart, Oct 30, 1925 at St. marys.
Archie died, and Flora emigrated to new Zealand with her children -
Annie, Catherine, Florence, Pat, Vera, William and Maureen.

I also have a family of Doherty's in the Duntocher area -
Philip Doherty married Margaret Coyle , Jan 2 1899 at St. mary's.  They had a wack load of kids, and lived in the Clydebank area in later years.

any connect??

Hi Docherty and welcome to rootschat. I have found this thread interesting as I have a (at the moment) passing interest in Duntocher as my great grandparents married there on 21st September 1885. Their names being Donald Watson and Bridget Monks, both giving their address as 7 Clydebank Terrace. Donald's parents were, Archibald Watson (a tailor) and Mary Watson nee Campbell, whilst Bridget's parents were John Monks (a labourer) and Mary Monks nee Dempsie. The reason why I said that this was a passing interest is that at the moment this is the only information that I have that links this couple with the village of Duntocher and as yet I am unsure if they both came from there, if the bride came from there or they had just worked in the area and were only married there. Later in their married life they moved to Glasgow where they stayed and bought up their family.

Hi Docherty,
Care to expand - just a little?  Any first names to go with your Docherty's?
