Hi Helen, no it was my mistake I meant to say that James and Eliz would have had birthdates probably in the 1840's lol. I now know after finding Arthur and Mary in the census of 1891 and 1901 that they had 2 sons and that Arthur was born in Ireland. However there is nothing at all about his parents James and Eliz. I have a feeling that maybe he alone came over from Ireland. When they married in 1887 his mum was alive but his dad was deceased. I tried to trace in the death register but nothing came up. My other option before I start to trace Ireland, is to see if they settled elsewhere in Scotland. But that would be a long shot. What do you think Helen? Regards Jo x

Brilliant!  Will look forward to hearing from them.  :)

We should get Moira on this site as well - I'm sure she would it enjoy it.
Did Moira mention to you that she has the family bible of Sarah McLure and Thomas Watson?  I was gobsmacked!

Yes Debbie, there were people in their gardens so I had to pretend I was taking the pictures of Jade and my wee dog.

Hi Debbie/Helen

Just writing to introduce myself. I'm one of the McGunnigle connections (it's spelt several different wasy - probably because they were illiterate and couldn't say how their name was spelt, so the officials filling in the forms had to guess). Certainly makes searching for them complicated.

I'm Margaret Beckett (nee Lorimer). My gtgrandfather James McMonnigal b1870 was the elder brother of Thomas McMonnigal b1875 and Susan McMonigall b1877.

The Jessie Fraser mentioned in Roseann's posting is my full cousin - her mother was my mother's elder sister. You will probably also be hearing from Jacqueline, her daughter. They live in Canada.

Cheers!

Margaret
