Thanks for the link Harry, I'll be keeping an eye on it.  My parents were married in St. Mary's.

hi helen , good to hear from you and i am hoping that you and other folk who use this roots site will drop in to st marys parish site from time to time , im very much of the mind that its being set up as a parish ...community site and for it to really work im looking for people who have had a connection with st marys for whatever reason over the years to feel that they can contribite to the site. pictures is def the way to go , old movie clips even better, the clip thats palying at present is from a dvd that jim smith put together of several old reels of film that captured the st marys scouts trip to rome i think 1964. my dad was the scout master at that time and ive seen the dvd in it entirety ..its a fantastic look back to that era and even despite the quality of the film ..it runs for about 15 minutes or so intotal its easy even for me to make out many of the faces. ideally once approval is given many more clips like that can be added to the site, hence please do spread the word...........
cheers again
harry carey jnr.

Hi there

Helen here from Christchurch, New Zealand.  I'm interested in your photos - they were taken outside Filshies?  Filshies what?  My 4xg grandmother was Ann Filshie (twin sister of Agnes) b: 18 July 1797 in Dalnottar.   Ann Filshie married John Paul of Carleith.

I have been going through some of my records and if there is anyone 'out there' related to William Craig and Elizabeth Reid of Duntocher, I have a Kirk Sessions record I'd be happy to share.  Also one re Robert Watson (Little Mill) and Agnes Brown of Dunerbuck.

Hi Lindsay if you are 'out there'.

Hi everyone i'm new to this so please forgive me.  I am trying to trace my husbands family history. His family name is Cairney and he lived in Dalgleish Avenue in Duntocher. Four houses in Dalgleish Avenue are still occupied by the Cairneys including my in-laws!  Tracing back i have come to a halt as my husbands greatgrandfather was a Peter Gallagher. My husbands great grandparents were never married and he never met his great grandparents so i have come to a complete halt.
I would also like some help with his grandmother Julia Gallagher also from Duntocher.

Please help!!

Hi Tico,
Welcome to the forum.   :)
Can you give us any info that would help finding them in the Census' ?  Approx ages?  Names?
I have 2 Peter Gallachers in my own files.  Any details you can give would be helpful.

Great to hear from you. Here goes!!

Peter Gallagher and Annie McLaughlin had a child called Julia Gallagher (also known as Julia Cairney) because at the time of Julia's birth Annie was still married to John Cairney (but thats another mystery for another day) on 24th August 1906. She was born in Old Street in Duntocher.  No marriage certificate can be found so i assume they did not marry. On Julia's birth certificate it states that Peter was a general labourer, but on Julia's death certificate it states that he was a shoemaker.

Looking back on the sight i read that Legale1's grandfather was a Peter Gallagher who was in Duntocher and was a bit of a ladies man!!!  Could this be the elusive man i'm looking for?  She also states that she has connections to the Cairney family, gets more and more interesting!

Would be great if you could help or even point me in the right direction. Hope small amount of info is some help.

Hi Tico,
Julia Gallacher  or McLaughlin was married to a Cairney ,Charlie I think his name was ,  they had a large family, and  I think they were all boy's.   All grew up in  Hillend crescent ...after the family got married, left home etc  Julia  moved to Craigielea Road in Duntocher. She also worked in the Glenhead Tavern for many years, and is fondly remembered by many.  There are many Cairney's dotted all over the world.

Hi Tico,
I see you are in the capable hands of myyran - a wonderful source of all things Duntocher.  ;D
My 2 Peter's aren't yours, sorry.  My Peter married Catherine Mochan, and they had a son also named Peter.
But I'm sure you will get more info on your family if you stay tuned.  ;)
