Inquest details?

I have today received the death certificate for my 3x gt.grandfarher, Robert Elsom of Rippingale. The cause of death is given as 'died suddenly of disease of the heart and congestion of the lungs'. The certificate also says that a certificate was received from the Coroner for Lincolnshire. The date of the inquest was 11th October 1878, just one day after Michael's death.

I have two questions and would be grateful for any help please,

Was it usual to have an inquest on the day following a person's death?

Also, is it possible for me to find a record of the inquest or of the Coroner's report? I have no idea where to start looking!

I have a death were there was an inquest which was held 2 days after the death.

I don't know if you'll be able to get a copy of the coroners report , but in my case the inquest was given in great detail in the local paper.

It might be worth your while to ask at the local library if they have a newspaper archive that covers the time and place of your inquest.

I've emailed the Lincolnshire Archives but not yet had a reply. I hadn't thought of the local paper/library, that gives me another avenue to try, thanks very much!

I have a copy of the newspaper report into Michael Elsom's inquest and also a report of the inquest in which his father, also Michael was involved.
