Hi Marianne,

as a rule we don't send e-mails for events, but they are entered in the event calendar.

- click on Home
- at the bottom of the page you will see Upcoming Calender.
Events within the next few days will appear here.
- click on the icon on the left (under Up... )
- this will take you to the calender where you can check out in advance
  which events are happening

Hope this helps,
Bob

I think some libraries prevent access to "chat" sites to protect children using the computers.

I know this day out seems lightyears ago but some of you might find these pictures of interest after visiting the cathedral.

They were taken in 1940 & 1941 and show the damage caused to the Regimental Chapel at the back of the Cathedral.

Note to Moderators
Permission by the Manchester Archives and Local Studies was sort and granted first before I placed them here, so we have no copyright issues in displaying them. e-mail available if required

A couple more can be found on the archives website http://www.images.manchester.gov.uk

Ken

Sorry you missed our meet Marianne  :'(

Ken the Photo's are very interesting, it shows just how extensive the damage was. If I remember right,  Manchester Cathedral was the most damaged Cathedral after Coventry. Thank you for seeking permission.

Although the meet was a couple of weeks ago I have since managed to purchase a copy of the "Manchester Man" which is a book based on Manchester in the 1850's and details everyday life. Extracts of the book were highlighted at the meet and this gave us an insight into a  "typical Wedding day"
