I'm uncertain at the moment.  Am at Dolls House Exhibition weekend before don't know whether allowed two weekends off  ::)

Susan  :)

Susan,

Do you mean model Doll's Houses? A fascinating hobby which apparently fills the leisure time of a reasonable number of people judging by the weekly magazines devoted to the subject These magazines usually include a scale model piece of furniture or a person in the price.

Thanks Lesanne. I did not realise there was another thread on the subject of this Rootschat Meet on 11th March.

I wish you wouldn't do that Lesanne. :D My Yahoo messenger sends me a note automatically telling me when a new email arrives. It makes a noise like gunfire. When I saw the message about the Rootschat Meet No 3 on 11th March I got so excited I almost fell off my seat. I thought the final arrangements had arrived at last. I was a bit disappointed but am glad that you are keeping the organisers on their toes  :D
I am looking forward to meeting some Rootschatters and putting a face to a name.

All the Best, Chris

Lloydy Keep trying please.

If the final details arrive on St Patricks Day we will have to turn the clock back.

That is usually done later in the year.

All the Best Chris

Well we are getting very excited now about the RootsChat Meet Number 3. Trystan and I are very much looking forward to putting some faces to some names. This is what we have worked out so far..

Itinerary for Saturday 11th March.

10.30am Meet at Victoria Train Station inside the Café Bar (This is on the Platform within the Station).
The Station itself is an interesting place to start our day. Lots of original features including a Brick wall plan of the destinations that at the time of opening you could get to by train from Victoria.
Today, Victoria Station not only caters for trains but also of the Manchester Metro link. These trams run through the city about every 10 minutes.

11.00am Manchester Cathedral Archives.  Together we will find out more about these important archives and the largest series of Parish Registers in the Country  :o :o. There will be a special RootsChat talk for about an hour given by the Cathedrals Archivist Mr Christopher Hunwick.

12.0 Lunch at the Cathedral Refectory and a chance to view up close the remains of the 15th Century “Hanging Bridge” which linked up the old Mediaeval town to the Church.

This licensed restaurant provides mouth watering dishes  :P such as Shank of Lamb braised in red wine, honey and rosemary to lighter lunches of smoked Salmon, cream cheese and chive sandwiches. Prices range from £2.50 - £5.50 (These are samples dishes taken off their website.

1.00 A chance to browse the Cathedral itself ourselves to fully take in this beautiful and historic building.

2.00 A Trip on the Manchester Wheel for spectacular breathtaking views of the city reaching to the Pennine hills. (Those scared of heights will have alternative option!)

2.30    Visit to The People’s History Museum.

The Museum was opened in 1994 in the former Hydraulic Pumphouse to accommodate its collection of articles relating to every day life for people not just of Manchester.  Displays cover all aspects of work, home life and leisure including interesting articles on Friendly societies and Trade Unions.

5.00pm   Evening Meal to be held in China Town in the City Centre

8.00pm- 2.30am(!!)   Evening Drinks at some of Manchester’s best Beer houses.

3.00am  Bus Home ! ;)

See you soon !

Sarah :)

PS Don't forget - good value B&B/Hotels available in Bury (see my previous post)
