This thread appears to have gone very quiet :-\

Manchester it is..................but we still haven't made a definite decision for a before or after Christmas Meet.

I'll start by saying that after Christmas would be good for me.  Once all the festivities are over, and everything is all "flat", at least we can all have something to look forward to :D

Opinions please everyone............

Note to Moderator:  Could this topic be stickied please?  It had slipped down to the bottom of The Common Room!!!

I don't really mind but after Christmas would probably be better.  I think a lot depends on what we plan to do with the day, bearing in mind that the weather can be pretty awful anywhere in January and February and a lot of 'tourist attractions' are closed.

Perhaps somebody in the Manchester area could make a few suggestions?

After Xmas is fine by me if that's the general census, but as folk have already pointed out, the weather could be a problem in Jan and Feb.

One of the most interesting places to visit is Chetham's School & Library.  Built in 1421, it's the most complete late-medieval residential complex to survive in the north west of England. Situated on a sandstone outcrop at the confluence of the Rivers Irwell and Irk, the buildings occupy the site of the manor house of Manchester, which, together with the parish church (now the Cathedral) formed the core of the medieval town.  The library houses some of the oldest books and manusripts in the North West.

Unfortunately, it is only open from Monday to Friday, unlike the Cathedral, next door, which is open every day and has a new Visitor Centre.
