Hi Ladybird
Thanks a million for that - not the right one - but as I only had 2 choices you have just made the David & Mary Mowe parents the correct choice.  You are truly an angel.
William was a labourer according to David's marriage certificate.
Thanks - now I can go a hunting again.
If you find info on William Stanley & Mary Mowe will luv U forever.
Thanks Cougar in Oz

Hi Cougar....guess I'm loved forever then!!
here's your William and Mary
27th Mar 1815
William Stanley b Foleshill & Mary Mowe spinster of this parish

By the way I think that David baptism is definately yours as I missed the Mowe bit from his baptism name...it should read
David Mowe, son of William and Mary...so it looks as if your William was a watchmaker at the time of David's birth.

I can find no baptism for Mary Mowe although there are 4 Mowe baptisms in the same block.

Let me know if I can help with any more Holy Trinity lookups.
2 Williams to William and Sarah (guess one died as a baby and they named the other after him)
And William and Catherine to Thomas and Mary
It's possible that your Mary was baptised at St Michael, which I dont have sorry, wish I did as more and more of my names seem to be cropping up in that parish

Hi Sylvia
Thanks for that - interesting though that in 1841 on David's marriage certificate it says father William - occupation labourer????  That's the bit that worries me.
I have been tossing up with the two William & Mary marriages -
just reread your last email and you are saying that both the Williams were watch makers? is that the occupation of the William Stanley b Foleshill as well?
Sorry to be a pain - I'm having a 'senior' moment trying to get this straight.
Thanks Sue

Hi Cougar
sorry to be confusing, yes thats your David, I re-checked the disc and it definately says
births
12 feb 1816
Stanley, David Mowe son of William and Mary, West Orchard Well St - Watchmaker
Maybe by the time your David was married his father was no longer able to work as a watchmaker. All sorts of things could have happened in that 25 years.
And yes it's the William born Foleshill, same person.

William Stanley, Watchmaker, born Foleshill, married Mary Mowe, 27th March 1815, Holy Trinity, Coventry
Son David Mowe Stanley born 12th Feb 1816

Thanks for that
After being with dementias for most of the day it tends to rub off as you might imagine - especially today when we had 20 and only 1 or 2 making any sense.
Great - now I can go off hunting AGAIN.  Fun, isn't it.
If you need some look ups with your lot I can help with some Warwickshire/London/Middlesex.  Let me know if I can return the favour.
Thanks again

I am researching a William Mowe, who served with the 55th Divisional Signal Company RE during WW1 and who was awarded both the Military Medal and Meritorious Service Medal for his services. My "avatar" shows his medals.

William was born in 1896, the son of John Henry and Ellen Mowe.  He was living at 4 Lingholme Road, St Helens in1901.  His surname is incorrectly recorded on the 1901 Census as "Mow".

Is he one of "yours"?

regards

Mark

Hi Mark,
How far have you gotten with this Mowe Family - did yours have a son David born 1816?  If so, do you know who he married?    That would truly be a breakthrough for me if you know this.  It would mean I have either found or can discard this David Mowe.
Cheers, Cougar
