Lookup Marriage James Jeffery/Fanny ???Moretonhampstead early 1870s
« on: Saturday 14 August 04 08:42 BST (UK) »
This is my first post in what has so far been a 2 week research exercise.  i.e. I'm new, so I hope this request makes sense and includes enough info.

James Jeffery born 1850 in Ottery St Mary married Fanny ??? born in Moretonhampstead in 1846.  I have looked at the Moretonhampstead local history website and the only Fanny that fits is Fanny Cann baptised in 13/4/46.  However I can find no record of the marriage which I assume would have been in Moretonhampstead.  Am I making too many assumptions?  Their first child, William was born in 1875 in Collumpton. The Family were all in Diptford in the 1881 Census.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi I have Cann's in Devon connection to my mothers Taylor line.

My G-G Grandmother was a Bessie Cann c.1854 Woolfardisworthy Devon, moved to Swansea with her friend (future husband) William James Taylor Brynhyfryd Swansea builder.

Can give much more information if you wish to know more

Hi Jen
Thanks for the help, but I was diving down a blind alley.  Fanny turned out to be Fanny Short, and I now have the marriage certificate.  It has taught me, in the very short time I have been doing this, that you shouldn't assume anything !

many thanks

Chris
