HILLHEAD/HILLHERD
« on: Thursday 22 September 05 05:37 BST (UK) »
I have written on a piece of paper a by one of my ancestors of a marriage between an Isabella Lawcock McKerrow and somebody called HILLHEAD or HILLHERD in 1924. Difficult to read the writing. Searched scotlandspeople and the only Hillhead was on 1881 census aged 24 and from Ireland. Because of the age I would rule him out. Can anybody suggest anything else?

Hi there,

Are you sure that Hillhead is the name of the person?  There is an area of Glasgow called Hillhead (where the University is) - could it be the location rather than the spouse?

I know it is rather clutching at straws, but worth a try!  :)

Cheers,

Thanks Claire, I did wonder that and mentioned it to my mum but she didnt know of it. It is her aunts marriage but she did not know that her aunt had married so it remains a mystery. So Isabella Lawcock Mckerrow could have married at Hillhead in 1924!!!
Will need to buy some more credits for scotlandspeople then.
Thanks
GLoria

Hi Gloria

We've contacted each other before on GenesReunited as I'm also a decendent of the McKerrow clan.

I know you've probably resolved your query above by now but just incase I remember my mum talking about a farm call Hillhead relating to that side of the family.  It may not be what you're looking for but if you are still trying looking for an answer I can ask her what she remembers.

Go to Scotland people website, on marriages 1855 to 1931, select from 1924 to 1924, select lanark, select hillhead, select female surname -mckerrow, select female first name - isabella, there is only 1 result, worth the 1 credit to see rersult of search which will give husbands name, a further 5 credits for the full marriage certificate.
