Thank you Carol for that kind offer, but I am pretty sure it is and always was a shop, and you will probably get rear-ended trying to spot housenumbers!

I've been through Northampton a time or two myself, and this family really isn't high enough on my 'close family' list to warrant the hassle.

I am perfectly happy with the info provided for me here today. :D

Cheers

Doreen

Hi

I don't know if you are still interested in this family, but I am directly descended from the Keys, Ratnetts and Tulls and can explain how they all link together.  I also have photos of several of them.  If you are interested, please respond to this and I will let you have details.

Thanks,
Liz

Hi Liz
I'd forgotten about this posting! Strictly speaking, I'm not related to any of them... Rachael Emma Key b 1868 was George Walter Baylis's (my great-grandfather) second wife, and the one that my father remembers as his grandmother. Her parents were Charles Key (1830-1906) and Harriet Burley (1836-1893), and I believe they had 8 children, 3 of whom died young.
I have pieced enough of them together to follow the Key/Ratnett/Tull family links.  Where do you fit into the tree?

regards
Doreen

Hi Doreen

My great great grandfather was William Stewart Tull (1824 - 1896).  He married Charlotte Key (1834 - 1891; daughter of Edward Key and Rebecca Ratnett). The Tulls, Keys and Ratnetts were quite close and can be found at one another's homes in Northampton, London and Huntingdonshire in various censuses.

William and Charloitte had 8 children and for some reason (maybe related to mixed fortunes which William Stewart Tull was subject to), Charlotte's sisters Rachel and Emma Key brought up my great grandfather Harry Tull.

Harry went on to have two children  - my grandfather Leslie Stuart Tull and my great aunt Sybil May Tull.  Unfortunately Leslie died before I was born, but I knew my great aunt Sybil quite well, and she remembered the Key sisters well.

I have quite a lot of additional information about them (including numerous photos) if you are interested.

Regards,
Liz

Hi Liz
I seem to have missed one of your 8.. I have:-
Charles William S(tewart?) b1856
Mary Ann Charlotte b1859 m1877 Joseph Birkett
Edward Key b1863 m? Minnie
Alfred Thomas b1865
Rebecca Ann b1867 m1892 Edwin Alfred Munt
Harry b1870 m? Charlotte Sprigs
Albert Ernest b1875

Do you have any photos of Charles Key and/or Harriet Burley?
Dad remembers some of the Keys moved out to Laindon in the early years of the war, in fact there were two almost next door to each other (known as front-door-key & back-door-key). Must ask him if he remembers any of the Tulls.

regards
Doreen

Sorry I can't count - you are right it is seven siblings.  I am adding a few details below:

Charles William Stuart (1856 - 1876)
Mary Ann (1859 - ) = 1877 Joseph Birkett
Edward Key (1863 - 1946) m 1889 Susan Minnie Peters
Alfred Thomas (1865 - ) = 1894 Zarah Benabo
Rebecca (1867 - 1949) = 1892 Edwin Alfred Munt
Harry (1870 - 1959) = (1) 1897 Charlotte Sprigs
                                 = (2) 1932 Margaret Cecily Volkert
Albert Ernest (1875 - )

I don't have any photos of Charles Key I am afraid.  I do have pictures of Emma, Rachel and Charlotte Key, and of their mother Rebecca Ann Key (née Ratnett) and of her parents John & Elanor Ratnett.

Gosh! I don't have dates for Eleanor & John, but either they were extrordinarily old photos, or they must have lived to a goodly age! I would like those photos please, and I have a couple of Charles Edward Key & family and Rachel Emma Key, but I can't see how to attach files in this mode ?  I also have traced this family though quite a few censuses etc

Doreen

Hi again,

I am not sure what is the best way to let you see the photos.  I have them attached to my Ancestry tree, and I can send you an invite to that if you can let me have your email address.

Incidentally, the pictures of John and Eleanor Ratnett are actually portraits that I have taken photos of.  The original portraits hang in my Dad's study.  That all sounds very exciting, but I am afraid they are not the most attractive folks (bit grumpy looking), and that's why my Mum won't let him hang them anywhere else in the house!!
