ALL WELCOME - part of this year's Auckland Heritage Festival

The Auckland Family History Expo 2026 will take place over three exciting days in October. The Expo brings together family historians, genealogists, industry organisations, and researchers from across New Zealand, Australia and beyond.

Our speaker line up and programme has been published.

Accommodation available onsite for 3 or 2 nights (8-11 October or 9-11 October) including meals and Friday and Saturday evening events.

FRIDAY Pre-Expo events
Friday 1pm-4pm
§ Masterclass workshop "Mapping our Stories" hosted by Fiona Brooker

Learn how to turn your family history research into an interactive visual journey using Google Maps.

Friday 5pm-8pm: Welcome Event
§ keynote from Paul Moon " Ways of Seeing the Past"
followed by a multi-cultural panel discussion "Family History Traditions Across Communities" hosted by Te Radar.

Saturday and Sunday
Keynote speakers over the weekend include:
§ Professor Sally Ann Harbison " Where family history and forensic science converge"  and
Dr Helen Leggatt " Whither Shall We Send Our Son?: The Remittance Men of New Zealand"


§ Masterclass workshop on Saturday hosted Jean Tennent "Using Family Book Creator with Family Tree Maker" along with additional workshops running
over the weekend.

§ Three streams of talks will be available throughout the weekend, covering a huge variety of topics.

Family history | genealogy | whakapapa; New Zealand, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, military, Methodology, DNA, AI, and much much more.
