Are MyHeritage being sneaky or am I paranoid?
« on: Tuesday 08 September 26 16:45 BST (UK) »
Several months ago with the help of AI I created an Excel macro that would reformat the match list data, which I had collected by clicking and dragging from the top of the list, down to however many dozens or hundreds of entries I was displaying.

After clicking and dragging and copying I pasted it as text into the top left cell on a spreadsheet. I then ran the macro which would then transfer the single column of data into multiple rows, one per match. It was 99% perfect, after a few bits of trial and error. I now notice that MyHeritage have added a lot more information to the lists of match data. This has totally scuppered my use of the macro although I will be able to get AI to help me recreate it.

I wonder if they did this deliberately to discourage what is called screen scraping or whether they are just being helpful by providing more information.

My Heritage, to use a colloquial expression “don’t do owt fer nowt”.

Ergo, you are no more paranoid than we are
