DNA copying to other websites
« on: Today at 17:00 »
This query may have been raised before but here it goes again.

I have read that :-

1. You can "copy" your DNA results which sit in Ancestry and plant them in MyHeritage.
Do you need an account with MyHeritage to do this and secondly, how do you go about doing it please?

2. You can transport your DNA results from Ancestry to GedMatch. I have the same question please.

3. I have read that, by copying your DNA results to such sites, there is a high risk that these results will disappear from Ancestry. A total nightmare to think about!

Thank you for any help! ☺️

MH no longer accept uploads from other testing companies.

To add to another site such as gedmatch download your results from Ancestry:
go to 'your account settings'>> DNA>>tests you own and click 'Download DNA data'
The data is sent as an email attachment which you then upload to other sites.

Whoever suggests your Ancestry results will be affected is talking rubbish, it sounds as if they managed to delete their results and won't own up to doing so.

Once you have your Raw DAN Data on your PC you can upload it to FtDNA & Gedmatch.

My Heritage DNA kits are currently £29 + postage and it may be worth buying a kit if you have a brickwall that needs all the help it can get.

I have found a lot of Belgian records for my half Sister whose Mum was Belgian on My Heritage.  I have a kit on order for her to use to try to find more relatives.

I have found a few on ftDNA AND i took a yDNA test with them.

Gedmatch has great tools but alas I have not had much success, but it is still worth uploading.

If you do then do watch the video tutorials that are on the site.

Thank you Biggles!!

I have a lot of questions that need answering.

I am the last one alive who has expressed any interest in researching our past. Once I have gone, it will all be forgotten forever, hence my need to discover the untold, the hidden.

Like, who.was my mother's German biological father.  I have a series of German names in my DNA Matches. It would be a dream come true if I could fathom that out!

Interestingly, I was born and raised in Belgium. ☺️
