Trying also to find Martha and Thomas BATEUP's second son Henry, born 1842 in Chippendale. Married Eliza Jane HIGGINS in 1863 and they had seven children from 1864-1874. Three died young and one was a stillbirth. Surviving children were Lydia Mercy 1864, Clara Jane 1869 and Sydney William 1874.
In Jan 1869 Henry put a note in the paper stating that he was not responsible for any debts incurred by Eliza, so things may have been getting rocky by then.
In April 1887 Eliza put a notice in the paper saying that unless Henry returned within a month she intends to get married. She did not marry as far as I can find but may have had more children as an In Memoriam Notice appears in the paper in July 1909, which was placed by "her children" Florence and Sidney Wilson. Eliza died in July 1908 and was buried at Rookwood. A Florence Murphy is in the same grave according to the Cemetery database.

The other surviving son Sydney William BATEUP seems to have disappeared as well.
Were Florence and Sidney WILSON actually Clara and Sydney BATEUP?
Nothing found for Henry after 1874 apart from possibly a couple of appearances in the Gazette about some unclaimed letters. Perhaps he disappeared about 1880, which would be seven years before Eliza said she would be getting married again if he did not show up.
No death in NSW, QLD, SA, VIC or WA, unless he changed his name.
Can anyone assist please.
