William Davidson
« on: Yesterday at 13:56 »
Some years ago, I was on this forum to find Paulus Davidson. Now I return to try to identify his father.
He was Wiliam Davidson, and his son Paulus was born in Feb 1742 in Aberdeen.
Via "Patrickpeople" I found a record that a William Davidson (Provost of Aberdeen, °1698-1765+) married Violette Robertson in August 1741..! It looks like this could be him.. Can anyone help me? Thanks a lot, Dirk

The entry is on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk & you can buy credits to download it.  Given the period involved - I doubt you you will get any additional info from it

There is no birth for Paulus on the website so nothing to confirm his mother was Violette

This is a continuation of https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=852635.0

This is not the right William Davidson, because William Davidson and Violet Robertson had a daughter Jean baptised on 20 June 1742. They also had Helen, baptised 10 January 1744, William 10 June 1745 and Joannah 26 July 1750. See screenshot.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
