Clara Payne
« on: Wednesday 04 March 26 22:43 GMT (UK) »
Would like to trace Clara. She was born 26 Jun 1863 Camberwell to parents James Payne and Emma Chappell. In 1871 and 1881 she is with her parents and siblings in St George Camberwell. I could not find her in 1891. In 1901 she is living with her sister Selina and Emma Wiseman in St Olave Southwark. In 1911 Selina and Emma are still together but no Clara.
I  looked at 1903 Shoreditch Payne /Broughton marriage and the 1905 Reigate Payne/Bushell marriage but neither are my Clara. There do not appear to be any likely deaths for her
Anyone with suggestions?

Clara's brother Henry died 26 February 1925 he left a will, sister Selina Payne spinster is named as his executor.
His address 6 Clifton Square, Albert Road, Peckham. Ref Probate Index.

It may tell you if Clara is still living.

Henry never married and lived for many years with his spinster sister Mary Ann Payne, yet she was not named as executor, a possible death being reg. Camberwell -1921 age 64

Info only, the Agnes Payne (grand daughter) in 1891/1901 is the daughter of Mary Ann Payne. She marries Henry A Doggrell in 1907 (image on Ancestry, his surname Doggrett). Together in 1939 and she dies 1963.

Sadly it looks like she's in an institution in Ilford in 1939 - listed as  incapacitated (sorry just spotted some of this was already posted alongside the death)

Possble in 1891? Clara Payne 25, b London. Servant in Conduit St, St George Hannover Square

There's a few workhouse admissions in Holborn of a Clara Payne approx the right age in 1899 & 1900, which seem to lead to her being admitted to an asylum. this person was an umbrella maker so not sure if yours

Added: I think not the right Clara. Heath appeared to be the name of the asylum, which was in Bexley. There's a  register entry for a Clara admitted in 1900 and died in Bexley in 1924
