Agnes Payne
« on: Tuesday 03 March 26 19:41 GMT (UK) »
Agnes was born 10 May 1883 Camberwell. Her mother was Mary Ann Payne with no father shown on birth cert. In 1891 she is living with her mother and Grandparents James and Emma Payne. In 1901 she is still living in Camberwell mother and grandfather. That is the last of her that I can find. I checked a Payne/Washington 1902 marriage and a 1907 Payne/Doggrell marriage but neither was her. There does not seem to be a likely death. When mother Mary Ann died 19 Dec 1921 an Administration  showed brother Henry as executor. Not sure if this means Agnes is no longer around. I also checked 1939 using Agnes and dob but nothing seemed reasonable.
Any suggestions?

I think the 1907 marriage to Henry Albert Doggrell is likely

1911
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XWRS-Q3B?lang=en

another child Elsie A Doggrell registered march qtr 1914 Camberwell mmn Payne

By 1921 the family is still in Camberwell, Henry is now a 'medical silk oiler' like James & Henry Payne.

Elsie's marriage registered Lewisham sept qtr 1938 to Thomas P Haggerty.

Searching for Elsie A Haggerty in 1939 finds her in her parents' household, dob for Agnes is 10 May 1886, so correct date but wrong year.

Agnes died 16 Sept 1963 at the same address as 1939 register. Will & admin to Elsie Agnes Haggerty, married woman.
Death reg Agnes Doggrell 80 Lewisham vol 5d pg 22 - age matches 1883 birth.

Does the Doggrell marriage not show that Agnes father as Charles Payne or did I misread?

Thanks for the lookup

It does, but there doesn't seem to be an Agnes Payne with father Charles, a japanner.  Not unusual to see a fictitious father rather than announcing the lack of one.

I think I spotted thatJames Payne was a japanner on an earlier census, so that might have given inspiration to the occupation.
