Help with finding a mother - Thompson

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for help identifying the mother of Alfred Thompson, aged 1 on the 1871 census, living in Dawley Bank, Dawley, Shropshire (Madeley registration district).

Household details (1871):
Head: Benjamin Thompson, 41
Wife: Hannah Thompson, 42
Children: Fanny (18), Enock (13), Mary (11), Jane E (9), Eliza (6)
Grandson: Alfred Thompson (1), born Dawley Bank, Shropshire (ecclesiastical parish Malinslee)

As Alfred is listed as a grandson, I’m trying to work out which of the Thompson daughters is his mother, or whether he may be the child of another relative.

Fanny is 18 in 1871 and is a possible candidate, but I haven’t yet found a birth registration that clearly ties Alfred to her (or to any of the other daughters).

Alfred’s estimated birth year is around 1870, likely registered in the Madeley district.

I’d be very grateful for any help with:
 Alfred’s birth registration
Any baptism in Dawley/Malinslee
Later census entries that clarify his parentage

Fanny Thompson married Jabez Tonks in Wellington 25 December 1872.
1881 Census has Alfred with Jabez and Fanny as Alfred Tonks, son
1891 Census has Alfred with Jabez and Fanny as Alfred Thompson, son

There is an Alfred Thompson registered in the Madeley District Dec Qtr 1869.  No mother's maiden name. You can get a digital copy of the birth certificate. Cost £3
