There were 20 deaths for a Daniel Kelly in 1876, none in Derry. Do you know where and how old he was when he died?

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

Possible marriage here -
4th February 1850
Daniel Kelly and Peggy Kelly
https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000632987?locale=en#page/148/mode/1up

The annotation at the side shows 4th and 4th degrees of consanguinity. From previous discussion on Rootschat, I think the Catholic Church reckoning of such might be different to ‘law’. However, you would need to check that.

I also wish you luck in your searches. If you look at those baptisms, there are some Kelly godparents but, of course, that could be either side.

Note that the informant for his death was a Margaret Kelly of Doon townland which is just to the west-

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

That's great thanks for your help.

So I think the Marriage and the birth of Patrick make sense to my connection.

My connection is through Mary Kelly born 5 Nov 1850 - on her birth cert it gives fathers name as Daniel and mother as Peggy which I know is short for Margaret so the marriage linked above on 4th Feb 1850 is possibly my connection as is the birth of Patrick.

It is possible that my date of death for Daniel was a typo for the year but if he was 85yrs when he died he'd have been born 1792 which would make him 58yrs when just married and having his first child??

I know the Griffin valuations have 2 Daniels in that area - Daniel Snr and Daniel so maybe the death in 1878 was the senior possibly Daniels father and its just coincidence that they both married Margaret?
