Ireland census search form and England census
« on: Sunday 22 February 26 21:21 GMT (UK) »
I have come across a Catherine (kate) Lynch on an Ireland census search form 1841-1851. It states her father was Thomas Lynch and mother Mary nee Boyce. Also mention names Denis, Margaret and Mary.

I have found the family in 1851 in pancras. Believe Mary died 1859 and Thomas 1872 both in Pancras. All 6 are correct and match the form.

Can't find them after 1851 until Catherine marries in 1872 to Thomas b Archibald.

What exactly is the form? And can anyone find them after 1851?

Gone cross eyed searching 🙈
Any help will be very gratefully received.

Nicky

Usually, it applies to an old age pension application. The form is annotated that Kate would not be on the 1851 census if she was already living in England.

The death certificates for Mary and Thomas might help with addresses and informants.
Do you have Catherine’s marriage certificate?

Added - just found the marriage - no help. Just says St Pancras and no father’s details either!

Thank you. Got the death certificate for Thomas, think it's probably the right one, these are details
Thomas age 79, died 21 May 1870 at 47 Clarendon Square, Somers Town. Informant M canavan present at death.

Too many Maria/Mary. Got one death certificate but definitely wrong one.

I've hit a dead end now. The census search form definitely indicates this is the right family but after 1851 can't find anything.

As you say, there is no sign of them at all. Mary Ann Canavan is living at 47, Clarendon Square in
1871 221/60/30 with her husband Joseph and children.
There are lots of other families/people at the address but no Lynch.
Looking at births, Mary Ann’s maiden name was McCoy.

The McCoys are there in 1861 too. I have tried searching around on both 1861 and 1871 with no results.

Yes it's all strange unless 2 Thomas Lynch each married a Maria Boyce.

My Thomas Lynch married Maria Boyce in 1833 in Ballingarry,  Limerick. They had Denis 1836 and a Margaret 1838.  I have Denis right up to his death as he's my husbands relative. Denis joined the army, married in Plymouth and then lived in Guernsey.

Maybe they just are different families 🙈
