John WHITAKER died 1828
« on: Wednesday 18 February 26 04:04 GMT (UK) »
John WHITAKER died in Manchester on 26 Feb 1828, while on a visit from Leeds, Yorkshire. He does not appear to have been taken back to Leeds for burial.

He was a painter and clock-face enameller.

Nothing showing up in the Lancashire PRs on Ancestry that fits.

FreeReg has the burial of a John WHITAKER on 28 Feb 1828 at Rusholme Road Cemetery at Chorlton on Medlock, but has nothing to confirm if it is him. He was aged 51 which would fit agewise, born 1777.

Can anyone assist please.

Thanks
Ian C

FindMyPast has the page image for John Whitaker - Rusholme Cemetery -

Grave No:  4218 - Burial date = 28 February 1828, John Whitaker, last residence = Manchester, aged 51, cause of death = Apoplexy.

On the same page is an entry for the same grave number - 2 March 1828 - George Robinson, aged 4.

I have not looked at other pages in the register to see if the grave might have been a common grave.

What else do you know about John Whitaker? Did he have a brother Richard by any chance?  I'm trying to find where my husband's ancestor Richard Whitaker came from.  All we know is that he married in Stockport in 1795 but where he or his wife originated from we have no idea.  I've searched Cheshire and Lancashire records, but didn't think of Yorkshire.

From your other post about John Whitaker

Name   John Whittaker
Death Age   31
Birth Date   abt 1797
Death Date   26 Feb 1828
Burial Place   Manchester, Manchester, England
Reinterment Cemetery   Rusholme Road Cemetery

Your John was 51 though I think you said

However

all other sources have the death age of 51 grave no 4218. The one I quoted does say stone badly worn so could have been misread. There were 13 people in the grave but all the graves are shown as having at least 13 people burial in them. Is the clue that it was a 'reinternment cemetery'?
