It's raining again today - boring, isn't it, but also threatening flooding on our country roads.  We will make a quick dash to the supermarket and be glad to be back home with our purchases.

I have made an arrangement with a friend to go for a walk on the next fine day.  I wonder when that will be.  She lost her husband a few months ago and although she seemed to be coping well at first, the realisation seems to have just hit her quite badly.  Neither of us is good at walking the sort of distances that various local groups seem to tackle, so we shall just take a stroll for the odd half hour and do a lot of chatting while we walk.  I hope it helps her.

I am sure it will Gillig, walking anyway but in good company such bonuses.!
Fresh air ,exercise, companionship , you can’t beat it.
My daily two, hour walks with my dog years ago in a friendly group ,full of laughs ,got me over my first heart attack in 2009, and the fact that I walked with  her after that until she died has no doubt helped with things since, I would have got another dog but along came Covid .
I could not walk one now.

A lovely surprise ,Grandson phoned last night ,he cannot make it but the rest of the family are up and will come tomorrow.
So a dash to Supermarket early tomorrow ,I can cook a chicken , they will have lunch here.
Well old microwave and countertop cooker gone, used the new Russell Hobbs little oven for cheese and onion pie for tea, a bit “fast” so a few degrees lower next time.
It is so sparkly and shiny.A Russell Hobbs, new Microwave is too .
Two big boxes, Luca and Kyra will play with them tomorrow.,I have all sorts of craft stuff for them to decorate the boxes should they choose to do that.

I hope we have a nice Summer ,but if we do we will surely be short of water-
Hard to believe after all the rain  we have had.

Well , time for milky coffee and chocolate biscuits .
Look after Thanks for the news.
Cheerio.Viktoria.

Your walk sounds like a great idea Gillg, I'm sure it will help your friend. I suppose all the things that need sorting out after a bereavement have been taking up her time and perhaps she's feeling very alone. A walk in the fresh air and good company sounds ideal.

I love that sort of walk with a friend, although ours usually last a couple of hours. We usually go for something to eat afterwards, and a nice glass of wine.  :) On one occasion we made the mistake of doing it the other way round, we went for lunch and then a walk but feeling stuffed with good food isn't exactly conducive to exercise. We won't make that mistake again!

Have a lovely time with your family tomorrow Viktoria.

Hello All

Viktoria would that "cheese and onion pie for tea" be homemade?

If homemade, I bet it is heavenly  :P

It actually stopped raining late yesterday and went for a walk this afternoon after a rump steak, potatoes and veg dinner, to try and walk some of it off.

Once dark the rain was back on again!

Take care all, Mark

Yesterday was a treat with sunshine and although chilly seeing sheets and towels flapping away on the line was a joy and boy did they smell great too!
Today more washing out but no sunshine…
Now it’s pouring with rain again!
How lovely to have your family up for a visit tomorrow Viktoria I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time with them all.. and what child doesn’t like an empty box to use imaginatively!
My daughter and youngest grandson are coming up by train tomorrow after a mornings visit to the Imperial War Museum.. we’re out for a meal tomorrow night and the bowling alley on Friday morning before they return home.
Eldest grandson away on school ski trip at Zell am See at the moment back on Saturday.
Daughter and youngest grandson went on their Jamie Oliver pasta making course today so will look forward to hearing about that… they spent Saturday afternoon making pasta with his new machine at home.. lovely pics and plenty of pasta to eat!
Think I’ve just about got over last Fridays endoscopy … back to the docs and back on bp tablets 😢… I told him I was hoping not to see him for a while as nice as he is! I suspect once biopsy results are through I’ll be back there again.

Gillg - I hope that you get some dry days soon to go for a walk with your friend, I’m sure she’ll appreciate your support and a kind ear to listen to.
It will be incredulous if we have hose pipe bans this summer after all this rain!

My son and d-I-l are going to have shocked when they come home in a couple of weeks as current temps in Brisbane are around 30-32C!

Well hope all are trying to keep well and dry and as cheerful as possible.

Hi All

Just been catching up on the end of last week's, I'm behind like a mad cow's tail.

Caroline, they discovered several decades ago that my Mum had a hiatus hernia and suggested more bland food. I hope whatever you do, brings you some relief.

My food currently and for the last six years is fairly bland nutritious food.

Roobarb, I hope you are keeping well and managing to get out and about in this weather!

Bumble B, I loved the cuddling carrots.

Jeff, nice place you built, with a stone frontage!

I tried to buy a terraced house for £20,000 in need of full modernisation (and no bathroom), when I was an Apprentice Plumber and went to my Building Society with my wage slips and book and the answer was not a chance! I just wanted to do what the young Carpenter did at the firm, buy a house and do it up whilst still living at home.

Now they are £400,000 upward. The prices are stupid  ???

L.M. yes, it was actually 10% Deposit when I got a Mortgage, but I needed 1/6th saved to bring the purchase price down to £30,000 and then I was in with a chance of 3 x our annual wages along with an Accountant's Estimated projection of possible future earnings, which I never achieved in those years.

I smiled at your Broom Stale between two chairs (I think) to hang you bits and pieces on.

Viktoria, I hope that cough is improving and you are having a nice time with family!

I hope the Cheese and Onion Pie, meal turned out well.

Gillg, just walk as far as you comfortably can (a lot of people cannot walk as far as they once did), but all movement is good for us all.

Take care all, Mark

Mark, yes thanks, I've been out and about. We've actually had quite a lot of sunshine here, although it's been really cold. I can put up with that in return for the brightness.  :) Forecast 12 degrees over the weekend and into next week.

Caroline, good luck with your test results, hope you have a lovely weekend.

Sunny skies would be brilliant!

You'll be sunbathing in the excitement of 12 degrees  ;D  ;D after what we have had for months!

Are you sure they have not left the minus sign out, in front of the 12 C.  :) or meant 12 deg. F

After rain and storms Britain is falling apart at the edges (BBC) ...

Comic song!
This may not be the right place for  this query but here goes.
Still sorting through piles of old files  and photos I came across this one.
It was a Church Social evening back in the dim and distant past.
It featured two of our choir members Ray Green and Mervyn Harris dressed as shown and representing the Wesley brothers, John and Charles.
I cannot remember the words but they were set to the tune Lucius (All praise to our redeeming Lord).
I have a feeling that this may also at one time have featured in Clarkson Roses Show "Twinkle", or am I just on one of my routine ramblings?
