Sarah Headford was TGW New's mother, not wife.

Have you been able to find any migration records for Thomas GW New and his wife Sarah Headford?

Hi janjim

The following is probably the NEW family arriving in Wellington in 1908.

Ship :   "Athenic" - departed from London

NEW - T. - aged 27 - Occ:  Painter - destined for Wellington NZ
Mrs NEW - 27 years
NEW - Master T - 7 years
NEW - Miss I.*  - 2 years    [*  possibly aforementioned child named "Doris Irene"  ??]
NEW - Master C. aged 1-1/2 years

[ ^  This list is from FamilySearch (NZ Passenger lists) - I couldn't immediately see date of arrival - will go back for another look. ]

"Athenic"  - London to  Wellington NZ - 1908

Looks like "Athenic" made 3 voyages to NZ during 1908 - arriving early January / mid-May / early October.

Suspect NEW family may have arrived October ?? (v. large number of immigrants on that trip.)  Unfortunately dates and even ship's name, missing from headings of this passenger list - so it's a matter of scrolling through the many pages of same at FamilySearch for additional info.
   TIP :   Search on " T. NEW  - 1908 " to bring up passenger list :
In the later pages of some of these passenger lists, there may be details of "passage monies paid / or if persons had been sponsored by relatives or friends already resident in the Colony, details of sponsor" :
(Sorry just don't have time at present to check further for you.   )

You may like to also try our PapersPast site - although I couldn't immediately see any passengers names in "Athenic" voyage(s) reports.    www.paperspast.natlib.govt.nz
