Hello there
I have downloaded a copy of an old book, 'The Registers of Topcliffe and Morley' by William Smith published in 1888.
In it there is a footnote that reads:
The fine parchment pedigree of the Lords Eure, with special reference to the Pickerings of Tingley, the Heskeths, and the Swains, is preserved at Braboeuf Manor, Guildford.
I am descended from the Eures (who are easy to research as they are minor aristocracy) and also the Pickerings, who are not!
Does anyone know the whereabouts of the pedigree mentioned or if it still exists? The manor is currently under redevelopment and has been out of private hands for some time. I'm keen to get more information on the Pickerings.
There are also references online to John Pickering (who married Deborah Eure) mentioning that he was a captain who fought for Cromwell as did his father Thomas, and that John seems to have had a brother Edward who was also involved.
Could anyone, please, point me in the direction of where I can find out more about what they did during the time of the Commonwealth?
Thank you in advance for your input.
