Well done, SS.
William's birth seems to be done and dusted.
Mr. Gordon remains a mystery!

Did William ever marry?
Or there is the death certificate of Margaret. Hopefully her son might be the informant. It may say widow of....(even if she hadn't actually been married!)

Hi SS
You've done wonders already.
Hopefully Melbell will come back. If they decide to get hold of Margaret's death record they can let us know if it was of any help or not.

Hello softly softly and jonwarrn

I'm truly grateful for all your help and attention to my problem!

I've been following up on the leads you've kindly researched for me, especially the birth reg and the addresses.

I've got Margaret's death reg now. She's described as "widow of William Gordon Occupation not known". Margaret gassed herself on 12th March at 16 Jolliffe Street. Of course because the death was referred to the Coroner, there's 'no informant' named. The inquest was held 2 days later on 14 March.

I'm looking into further details soon.

Once again, thanks for helping me.  :) :)

Melbell
