Berryfield house, Bradford on Avon
« on: Saturday 17 January 26 19:23 GMT (UK) »
It seems that my m-in-L was evacuated from London to Berryfield house in b-on-a in 1945 to give birth to her first child (my husband)

I’ve read that it was eventually turned into a hospital and actually closed in 2006 (having now been turned into housing - no surprise there)

Is there any way of searching any register to find out how long m-I-L was there for, and whether any register  would give any other info?

Thank you.

But is there any documentation of any kind available to glean any info from?  My husband would love to know more about his actual birth place.

Plus, if there are any old photos of the interior of the place ….

Thank you.i did find that online, but it would be interesting to see the interior as it was then in 1945.

This post does not cater for attachments - cannot include actual newspaper items.

1931 - Berryfield had been sold and speculation afoot that it was to be a Country Club, a Luxury Hotel or even new Council offices.

-1939 - Berryfield is providing accommodation for expectant mothers but concern expressed about finding accommodation after they leave the maternity wards.

There must be some kind of records somewhere, and photos of it in yesteryear….

I’ll have a good delve

Just checking - more photos of the place than you can shake a stick at (on line) but you are only interested in photos of the interior?
