I wondered about this birth :-\

WOOD, TOM     mmn WARDEN
GRO Ref: 1850  D Qrtr THE DEWSBURY UNION  Vol22  Page 86

Which ties into this family in 1871 living in Hightown where this Tom Wood was also a Wire Drawer

Joseph Wood 50 Cartman b Hightown
Sarah Wood 43
Joseph Wood 22 Wire Drawer b Hightown
Tom Wood 20 Wire Drawer b Hightown
Allen Wood 15 Hightown
Alfred Wood 11 b Hightown

This would be my favoured birth and parentage.

Deaths Sep 1944
Wood    Tom    aged 93    Spen Valley    9b   516   (includes Liversedge)

added--probate of his son Ernest.

Hi

Just been looking & he seems to be the son of Joseph & Sarah Wood (nee Warden) but could not find a marriage.
She seems to be tha daughter of William Warden but no proof so would not take it as red.
This got me thinking & if I recall correctly there was a Quakers house off Windybank.

If it is the correct Tom Wood with mother's maiden name Warden think this is the parents marriage which is on Anc.   I think Sarah's surname may have been spelt as she pronounced it

Marriage
13 Jun 1847 Tong, St James, Yorkshire
Joseph Wood Shoemaker - father John Wood - Shoemaker
Sarah Warding - father Wm Warding - Tailor
Their address was listed as the Parish of Bristal  Birstal

yeah that all looks correct. I think Tong comes under Bradford district, it is a long time since I did my research in this area but should have remembered that.

I might have to have a proper look at these Woods, a distant cousin married a Wood whose father I was a John Wood.
